The Diagnostic and Genomics business unit has been providing genotyping services to academic researchers and pharmaceutical companies throughout the world since 2003. The unit specializes in molecular diagnostics, pharmacogenomics, and genotyping services including DNA isolation, DNA banking, SNP genotyping and genome wide association analysis.
The research and development efforts at NewLab are focused to address numerous personalized medicine questions. This research will identify gene based tests that will predict the "right drug for the right person at the right dose". Initial efforts are concentrating on gene-based tests that are specific to drug and/or enzymatic pathways and will be followed in rapid succession by the development of drug class, disease specific and medical specialty tests.
The laboratory follows a quality assurance program that is compliant with OECD and FDA 21 CFR Part 58 Good Laboratory Practice (GLP) guidelines and the standards of the Laboratory Accreditation Program (LAP) set by the College of American Pathologist ( CAP ). NewLab achieved GLP compliance in June 2008 and CAP accreditation for clinical testing in February 2010.
